Bites & Stings

If you have been bitten by a snake on your arm or leg, these are the first aid response steps you should follow

In Queensland there are a number of bites and stings that we need to know how to manage. If we manage them correctly, we could save a life.

Types of bites and stings that need quick action are: Snake bite, Funnel Web Spider, Cone Shell and Blue Ringed Octopus. What you need to do:

Don’t Panic

Call the Ambulance if you have been bitten by one of these creatures.

Using a pressure immobilisation bandage, you would bandage over the bite site using all of that bandage

Then start bandaging from the bottom of the limb and bandage all the way upwards to the top of the limb.

Using a splint secure the limb.

Keep the casualty still and quiet until the Ambulance Arrives.
